Regional Connector Transit Corridor

This transformative Design-Build project involves the construction of a 1.9-mile fully underground subway line that will connect the Metro Gold, Blue, and Expo Lines, significantly enhancing transit connectivity in downtown Los Angeles. The project includes three new underground stations and requires a massive cut-and-cover excavation due to the presence of extensive underground utilities.

Group Delta, an NV5 Company, provided static and dynamic geotechnical recommendations for stations and structures. Services also included geomechanically numerical analyses to study seismic racking behavior of the underground structures and conducted adjacent buildings settlement analyses to support the development of the building projection plan.

Added Value

  • Comprehensive Geotechnical Design: Provided static and dynamic geotechnical recommendations for the underground stations and associated structures, ensuring stability and resilience in a seismically active region.
  • Advanced Seismic Analysis: Performed geomechanical numerical modeling to evaluate seismic racking behavior of underground structures, supporting robust and code-compliant design.
  • Protection of Adjacent Infrastructure: Conducted detailed settlement analyses of nearby buildings to inform the development of a Building Protection Plan, minimizing construction impacts in a dense urban environment.
