Westside Subway – Segment 1
Group Delta, an NV5 Company, performed geotechnical Instrumentation monitoring. This project extends westward for about 4 miles with 3 new stations with the main goal of providing a high-capacity, high-speed, dependable alternative It includes destinations such as Miracle Mile, Beverly Hills, Century City and Westwood. Our team’s role involved installation of Shape-AccelArray inclinometers, tilt meters, load cells, strain gauges, surface, building, and utility monitoring points, piezometers and extensometers.
Added Value
- Comprehensive Instrumentation Monitoring: Our team installed and managed a wide array of geotechnical instruments—including Shape-AccelArray inclinometers, tilt meters, load cells, strain gauges, piezometers, extensometers, and surface/building/utility monitoring points—across a 9-mile corridor with 7 new stations.
- Support for High-Capacity Transit Infrastructure: By monitoring ground movement and structural behavior in real time, our team helped ensure the safety and integrity of construction activities in densely populated areas such as Miracle Mile, Beverly Hills, Century City, and Westwood.
- Risk Mitigation in Urban Environments: Our instrumentation program provided critical data to detect and respond to potential ground deformation, protecting nearby buildings, utilities, and infrastructure throughout the tunneling and station development phases.
