I-405 Improvements

Group Delta, an NV5 company, played a key role in supporting the 16-mile I-405 Improvement Project, which involved freeway widening from SR-73 to I-605, including the addition of one general-purpose lane in both northbound and southbound directions. This high-impact infrastructure project required coordination across multiple jurisdictions and included extensive night work along one of the busiest freeway corridors in the United States.

Our team provided comprehensive geotechnical and environmental services, including geotechnical investigations and foundation design recommendations to support structural integrity and long-term performance. The team also conducted an Aerially Deposited Lead (ADL) study over an 11-mile segment of the corridor, Phase II soil and groundwater investigations, and hazardous materials surveys for bridges. Additional services included NPDES dewatering groundwater assessments, environmental due diligence, and Initial Site Assessments (ISAs), all of which contributed to regulatory compliance, risk mitigation, and environmentally responsible construction practices.

Added Value

  • Multidisciplinary Expertise: Our team delivered integrated geotechnical and environmental services, including foundation design, hazardous materials surveys, and groundwater investigations, ensuring technical accuracy and regulatory compliance across all phases of the project.
  • Efficient Risk Management: Our team conducted extensive due diligence, Initial Site Assessments (ISAs), and Phase II investigations to identify and mitigate environmental risks early, helping to avoid costly delays and streamline approvals.
  • Operational Flexibility: Our team successfully executed complex fieldwork, including an 11-mile ADL study and night operations, across a heavily trafficked, multi-jurisdictional corridor, demonstrating adaptability and commitment to project timelines.
