For this $310M Collaborative Design-Build Stadium Development project at the former SDCCU Stadium site, Group Delta, an NV5 Company, provided design geotechnical recommendations, as-needed design phase consulting to the Design-Build Team, plan and specification review, and construction phase services including geotechnical testing and observation, import fill management, and settlement monitoring coordination. Geotechnically significant components included large mat and shallow foundation systems supported on over 2,000 stone column ground improvements used for foundation reinforcement and liquefaction mitigation, multiple 40-foot tall Mechanically Stabilized Earth and reinforced concrete basement walls, deep remedial grading to remove surficial compressible materials, settlement monitoring, and screening over 100,000 cubic yards of imported fill for MSE Wall backfill, structural fill, and general grading material.
Value Added
-
Comprehensive Geotechnical Services: Our team provided design recommendations, plan/spec review, and construction phase services including testing, observation, and settlement monitoring coordination.
-
Ground Improvement & Foundation Optimization: Our team supported over 2,000 stone columns for liquefaction mitigation and foundation reinforcement beneath large mat and shallow foundation systems.
-
Efficient Fill Management & Wall Support: Our team creened over 100,000 cubic yards of imported fill and supported construction of 40-foot tall MSE and reinforced concrete basement walls through deep remedial grading and material evaluation.
