Group Delta, an NV5 Company, provided geotechnical engineering and construction materials testing and inspection services during the design and construction of a new four-story, 130,000-square-foot administration building for the San Diego County Regional Airport Authority at the San Diego International Airport. Our team worked directly for the collaborative design-built team led by Sundt Construction. The project site is less than 100 feet from where international flights arrive at the airport. Due to presence of liquefiable soils, our team conducted nonlinear site response analyses to develop site-specific acceleration response spectra for the structural design of the building.
Value Added
- Optimized Foundation Design: Our team developed pile capacities for auger-cast-in-place piles, ensuring structural integrity tailored to the project’s needs.
- Leveraged Existing Data: Our team avoided new pile load testing by utilizing results from a nearby completed project.
- Reduced Cost & Schedule: Our team streamlined the construction process, saving both time and money for the client.
