WATER / WASTEWATER

Sterling Natural Resource Center

The Sterling Natural Resource Center (SNRC) project includes the development of a new water-treatment center facility and a series of waste and recycled water pipeline alignments. Group Delta, an NV5 Company, provided a geotechnical investigation and delivered the geotechnical design recommendations for a new effluent line that is approximately 13,800 feet in length and for the development of the3 Waver Recharge Basin. The pipeline was typically placed between 5 and 10 feet below ground surface and the alignment crossed a City Channel. The Weaver Recharge Basin includes a total of five (5) primary basins and an emergency basin, along with a forebay water tank a pumping plant, and other minor structures. The investigation included double ring infiltration testing for design of the basins. Geotechnical challenges at the site included undocumented fill, collapsible cohesionless soils, and oversized material such as the presence of cobbles. Our team also provided materials testing and inspection services for two utility pipelines associated with the Sterling Natural Resource Center the Recycled Water Pipeline and the Del Rosa Collector.

Added Value

  • Delivered Critical Geotechnical Design Support: Our team provided investigation and design recommendations for a 13,800-foot effluent pipeline and the Weaver Recharge Basin, enabling safe and effective infrastructure development.
  • Addressed Complex Subsurface Conditions: Our team tackled geotechnical challenges including undocumented fill, collapsible soils, and cobbles, ensuring stability and constructability across varied site conditions.
  • Enhanced Basin Functionality Through Testing: Our team performed double ring infiltration testing to inform the design of five primary recharge basins and supporting structures, optimizing water management and recharge efficiency.
