Group Delta, an NV5 Company, played a key role in the redevelopment of the 32-acre Los Angeles State Historic Park, formerly the Southern Pacific Transcontinental Rail Line terminus and an abandoned rail yard known as the “Cornfield.”
The project transformed the site into a vibrant public space featuring native habitats, a welcome pavilion, citrus groves, and a wetlands area. Due to the site’s extensive legacy of rail-related contamination, our team conducted a site-wide Phase II Environmental Site Assessment (ESA) and led the remediation of over 60,000 cubic yards of hazardous soil. The team worked under a tight schedule and coordinated closely with the Department of Toxic Substances Control (DTSC) to meet critical path deliverables.
Our team also implemented active construction worker hazard mitigation strategies to address heavy metal contamination, ensuring a safe and successful transformation of this historically significant site.
Added Value
