Sharp Chula Vista Hospital

Group Delta, an NV5 Company, provided the geotechnical evaluation for Sharp Chula Vista Hospital Medical Center. Two existing SPC-2 East Tower hospital buildings are undergoing a seismic retrofit for mandatory compliance with SB 1953. The evaluation followed ASCE 41-13.

Our team utilized the extensive existing geotechnical data available at the site to minimize disruption to an active acute care hospital facility, and compiled information to support the investigation, develop cross-sections, and provide geologic interpretation for the evaluation of the existing foundations. Our team provided geotechnical support for submission of reports to HCAI, and this cost-saving and efficient approach was successfully approved by HCAI and CGS.

Added Value

  • Seismic Retrofit Evaluation for Critical Facilities: Our team performed a geotechnical evaluation in accordance with ASCE 41-13 to support SB 1953 compliance for two SPC-2 East Tower hospital buildings.
  • Minimally Invasive, Data-Driven Approach: Our team leveraged extensive existing geotechnical data to reduce disruption to the active acute care facility, while developing cross-sections and geologic interpretations for foundation assessment.
  • Regulatory Coordination and Cost Efficiency: Our team provided geotechnical support for HCAI report submissions, resulting in a cost-effective solution successfully approved by both HCAI and CGS.
