Group Delta represented RCTC and the Program Construction Management (PCM) team in this Design-Build (D-B) project involving 14.6 miles of median widening of I-15 between Cajalco Road and SR 60.
The project included asphalt and concrete pavement, constructing earth retaining systems, and widening of 12 bridge structures. The bridges included East Corona OH over BNSF Railroad, and the Santa Ana River Bridge.
During the procurement phase, Group Delta performed a geotechnical investigation that including a Pavement Data Report and Santa Ana River Foundation Data Report for use by bidders, and assisted in preparation of the Technical Provisions (TPs). The Santa Ana River investigation included environmental coordination, grading access into the channel, and performing rotary and rock core borings at each support ahead of bid, to mitigate the schedule risk due to long lead time required for accessing the environmentally sensitive channel.
During design build phase, Group Delta support RCTC as the lead geotechnical reviewers responsible for review and comment resolution on plans and geotechnical reports. During construction, Group Delta provided review of RFIs, NDCs, and other construction documents, and provided geotechnical support to RCTC to assist in resolution of Differing Site Conditions (DSC) claims.
