This project included a localized nuisance odor that was impacting residents’ quality of life. The issue necessitated sampling of air, sediment and surface water to conduct a screening of potential health risks and source identification. The required assessment was to be completed in 6 weeks while interfacing as expert with County of Orange and local residents.

Group Delta conducted all night air monitoring and sampling, successfully proved that odor source was not local wash but likely a nearby landfill and that nuisance odor constituents were not toxic. Group Delta successfully alleviated City of Irvine from implementing additional mitigation measures because the County accepted fault and agreed to implement mitigation measure at the landfill.
