This project is a 359,000-square-foot project located at the University of California, San Diego’s (UCSD) La Jolla Health System Campus providing a new bench to bedside translational research with scientists and clinical investigators. The 7-story building has three floors below grade, supported by mat foundation on soil-cement. The project included a 60-foot high soil-nail wall and a pedestrian bridge to the Sulpizio center. Group Delta provided a geotechnical Investigation for project design, environmental soils testing, as-needed design phase consulting to the design/build team, and construction observation and testing during soil-cement and soil nail installation.
Foundation recommendations provided by Group Delta resulted in significant savings in the foundation costs and LEED credits.
